Worldwide, Advances in Engineering is one of the main sources of news related to scientific and technological research. This international organization recognized as a work of excellence the project of Dr. Daniel Glossman-Mitnik, Senior Researcher C, SNI III, of the Center for Research in Advanced Materials, Cimav, together with his collaborators, Dr. Norma Flores-Holguín and Dr. Juan Frau-Munar from the University of the Balearic Islands, Spain.
The recognized work is the research project related to therapeutic peptides derived from natural marine products (molluscs, crustaceans and microalgae) that have great potential for the treatment of numerous diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and diabetes (it should be remembered that the combination of a short number of amino acids form peptides and when it is a greater number they form proteins).
Therefore, it is of great interest to investigate and understand the molecular properties and bioactivity of the peptides. From a molecular perspective, Dr. Glossman has recently established that bioactivity is related, in one way or another, to its chemical reactivity. This has presented further opportunities for the interactions of molecules to be predicted and the chemical reactions between them to be understood.
