They have also developed constructed wetlands for the removal of arsenic, and other innovative processes for the removal of fluoride and arsenic from drinking water.<\/p>\n<p>Research Areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2022 Solar desalination\n<li>\u2022 Monitoring and removal of arsenic and fluoride from drinking water\n<li>\u2022 Heterogeneous photocatalysis\n<li>\u2022 Phytoremediation\n    <\/ul>\n<p>Ongoing projects: <\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>Drinking water:<\/em> Technical feasibility analysis of the use of nanomaterials in drinking water treatment processes (arsenic and fluoride removal).\n<li><em>Solar Photocatalysis:<\/em> Development of treatment process for water disinfection and arsenic removal.\n<li><em>Phytoremediation:<\/em> Identification and characterization of plants that bioaccumulate metals and metalloids, for use in constructed wetlands to phytoremediate water and contaminated sites.\n<li><em>Solar Energy:<\/em> Specific applications in the water treatment processes.\n<li><em>Energy from Waste:<\/em> Methods generating energy from wastewater treatment sludge, and from urban and agro-industrial solid waste.\n    <\/ol>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-5 grupo-datos\">\n      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/DraAlarcon.jpg\" alt=\"Dra.
